Turkmenistan bolsters relations with Russia, US and China

ASHGABAT: Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held meetings with the ambassadors of the Russian Federation, the US, and China in Ashgabat, discussing prospects for the development of bilateral relations, Trend reports via the Turkmen Foreign Ministry. At the meeting with Russian Ambassador Ivan Volynkin, the sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral interaction, including political and diplomatic cooperation, trade and economic partnership, and cultural and humanitarian ties. The Minister and the Ambassador expressed interest in further development of these areas. During the conversation with US Ambassador Elizabeth Rood, the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral partnership between Turkmenistan and the US. Special attention was paid to the importance of cooperation within the 'C5+1' format, which unites five Central Asian countries and the US. The parties noted successful cooperation in such areas as security, economy, energy, and ecology. In the course of the meeting with Chin ese Ambassador Qian Naicheng, the key aspects of the partnership between the countries were discussed. The parties emphasized the effectiveness of cooperation within the Central Asia-China format and discussed preparations for joint events planned for this year. The meetings emphasize Turkmenistan's active efforts to strengthen international cooperation with the world's leading powers, which opens new opportunities for the development and strengthening of bilateral and multilateral relations.
