President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working trip around Ashgabat, getting acquainted with the progress of work on the construction of a monument to the poet Makhtumkuli Fragi in the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains and the construction of a cultural and park complex here.
The area of the park complex is 41 hectares, the height of the statue of the poet installed here is 60 meters, the height of the pedestal is 25 meters.
The head of state was presented with projects of fountains, recreation areas and pavilions of the park complex, as well as parking lots. The cultural and park complex is scheduled to open this year during the Week of Culture, held annually on the occasion of the Day of Workers of Culture and Art, as well as Magtymguly Fragi's Poetry (celebrated on June 27).
In this regard, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that the opening of the park complex will be a kind of prologue to grandiose celebrations in honor of the upcoming celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi in 2024. The head of state instructed to ensure control over the preparations for the planned events, which should be held at a high organizational level.
