The mayor's office and public organizations of Ashgabat came up with an initiative to hold an environmental campaign dedicated to World Health Day. Within its framework, from 4 to 11 April this year, from 8.00 to 18.00, the streets of the capital will be open only for city buses, taxis, and other public transport serving the population. In this regard, residents and guests of the city are invited to support the environmental action and switch to bicycles.
The organizers of the action note that bike rides, being socially significant events held in many countries in support of various social, sports and environmental projects, are also popular in Turkmenistan. Bicycling unites residents of cities and villages of the country, older and younger generations.
It should be noted that Turkmenistan is the initiator of the establishment of the World Bicycle Day. At the initiative of Ashgabat, in April 2018, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on the establishment of World Bicycle Day, which is celebrated on June 3.
