"1.5 million mines were buried in Garabagh," said Farid Isayev, deputy of the Department of Education, International and Public Relations of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), said this during his speech at the round table on "Protection of persons with disabilities and landmine victims in Azerbaijan", APA reports. According to him, many landmines were buried in non-military areas in Garabagh: "Cemeteries and water wells in Garabagh were also contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance. Before the anti-terrorist operations, 147,988 thousand hectares of territory in Garabagh were heavily polluted, and 675,570 thousand hectares were medium and was considered less polluted".
