President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for Tajikistan to attend a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a guest of honor. This was reported by the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
Berdymukhamedov is also expected to hold bilateral talks with foreign heads of state.
The current meeting of the Council is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the SCO.
As reported Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Iran, Turkmenistan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Secretary General of the SCO, Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the SCO, as well as heads of regional organizations - CIS, CSTO, CICA, will gather in Dushanbe in person. ECO and EAEU.
The Prime Minister of India, the President of the People's Republic of China, the Presidents of Russia and Mongolia, as well as the UN Secretary General will join the talks via video link.
As a result of the summit, the heads of the SCO member states are expected to make decisions on the inclusion of Iran in the organization and on granting the status of a dialogue partner to Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
