On October 1, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh (upper house of parliament) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov returned to Ashgabat from Japan . Judging by the frames of the TV report, his wife Ogulgerek Berdimuhamedova accompanied him on the trip .
Berdymukhammedov spent six days in Japan, from September 25 to October 1. As such, he missed Independence Day and related celebrations .
Why he stayed in Japan for such a long time is not specified. In a state television news release, they promised to give details about the ex-president’s October 2 trip.
Earlier it was reported that during the visit, Berdymukhammedov will attend the funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on September 27, and will also hold meetings with the Prime Minister, members of parliament and heads of some of Japan’s leading companies.
The official website of the Japanese government reports that on September 28, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held meetings with representatives of foreign delegations who arrived at the funeral, including Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
