Rashid Meredov congratulates the Taliban on the election of the new government of Afghanistan

On September 13, Abdul Salam Hanafi , deputy head of the radical Taliban movement of the interim Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan, held talks with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov via video link . This was reported by TASS with reference to Twitter of the representative of the movement, Mohammad Naim .

"Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi thanked neighboring Turkmenistan and reaffirmed Afghanistan's commitment to cooperation with him in the name of developing bilateral relations in issues of mutual interest," the statement said.

In turn, Meredov congratulated Hanafi on the election of the new government of Afghanistan, confirming Ashgabat's intention to "develop friendly and fraternal ties between the countries."

According to Meredov, the most relevant projects for the two states are the completion of the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway line, the TAPI gas pipeline, as well as joint programs in the field of electricity. In addition, the minister promised to continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan did not report on the talks.
