Talks between the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Pakistan were held in Islamabad

Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmoud Kureishi during his visit to Islamabad.

During the meeting, the results of the 15th summit of the heads of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization, which was held on November 28, 2021 in Ashgabat, within the framework of the Turkmen chairmanship of the organization, were discussed. In this regard, it was noted that the visit of Pakistani President Arif Alvi to Ashgabat gave impetus to the further development of mutually beneficial partnership between Ashgabat and Islamabad.

The parties paid special attention to expanding cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, the basis of which is partnership in the energy sector. In this regard, they discussed joint actions to intensify the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India transnational gas pipeline, as well as power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan.
